What is Facial Cupping?

Cupping or vacuum therapy is an ancient practice with roots in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is used today as a practice to rejuvenate the skin.

Unlike traditional cupping performed on the body, facial cupping does not bruise or leave marks on the skin and is a gentle and relaxing practice.

During facial cupping, the skin is gently suctioned away from the rest of the face, neck and décolleté using special tools to stimulate the flow of nutrient and oxygen-rich blood to the skin and muscles and to stimulate qi – which is life force energy.

By using suction or negative pressure, we can:

      • lift, and tone the face by relieving muscle tension

      • release fascial adhesions that stick to the skin and muscles

      • detoxify the skin by stimulating lymphatic drainage

      • achieve a natural brow lift

      • improve the appearance of fine lines and deeper wrinkles

The suction action draws up and separates different layers of tissues into the cups. Still, we avoid bruising or trauma to the skin because we are careful to suction not too deep and not remain in one static position for very long.

This vacuum mechanism causes flooding of the area with white blood cells, platelets, and other healing aids, leading to a brighter, more sculpted appearance and collagen production.

    Benefits:

Facial cupping has been shown to:

        • Stimulates lymphatic flow

        • Releases fascial adhesions and promotes the production of hyaluronan

        • Calms and triggers the parasympathetic nervous system

        • stimulates collagen production

        • relaxes muscle tension

        • Increases absorption of skin care product

          • brightens skin

          • minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
